Last week we had a Fresh Grounded Faith conference in Plano, Texas at Prestonwood Baptist Church. And, being there almost felt like coming home in a way.
I didn’t realize it before going, but so many old friends were at the conference! We saw friends from our college days at Palm Beach Atlantic University and friends from our years of ministry when we lived in Florida as newlyweds. Somehow they all seemed to end up in Dallas! ha! Isn’t it neat how God interweaves our stories and let’s our paths cross?
One of those friends I was able to reconnect with was Susie Hawkins – an amazing Bible teacher. At the end of the conference on Friday she and her friend Melanie shared about one of their passions – the Passover (learn more at their website – Passover For Christians). As I listened to their stories and teaching, I was blown away by just how creative God is giving us all different spiritual gifts and passions. We all have much to learn from one another.
Some of us are gifted in teaching, some in encouragement, and some in hospitality. And, I must say that I think Cindy and Stacy definitely have the gift of hospitality, since as my host and driver, they made me feel right at home! And, Chrissie Dunham, the Women’s Ministry Director at Prestonwood along with her hard working staff made every woman there feel welcome and loved. The beautiful thing is that all of these gifts are equal. God values them all, and as the church, we all need one another.
Speaking of the church… His church… six (6!) precious souls were added to the family at the Prestonwood event! Six new sisters put their faith in Christ and their lives are forever changed. Thank You Lord.
So, if you were one of the great women who attended Prestonwood Fresh Grounded Faith, thanks for gifting each of us with your presence. Every smile, every kind word, every prayer, every pat on a back matters and is a gift to all of us.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5
