I’m still finding powdered sugar! Yep, it was in my hair, on my jeans, and on my eyelashes! Those New Orleans folks know how to pour on the sugar — and, I’m talking about those beignets, beignets, and more beignets! If you’ve never had one, oh girl, they are the most delicious fried dough with mounds of powdered sugar dumped on top of them.
And, can I just say…no surprise about the sugar — these women were the sweetest! They loved us and showed us such amazing hospitality. The women of Celebration Church really loved each other and they loved the Lord — even these blind eyes could see that!
The Lord was so present and powerful in that place. Women from all over the community — different churches, different denominations, different races, and different ages all gathered as one… it really was incredibly beautiful — a taste of Heaven. (Where, of course, I think the Lord will serve beignets and Café Ole!)
God added 12 new sisters to the family during the event. Yes! Yes! That’s 12 precious women who have new life in Christ! And, there were tons of women who God set free from the chains of insecurity, hopelessness, rejection, and fear. Yes! Thank You Lord! And thank you to all the volunteers and co-host churches that helped make this such a beautiful weekend.
It’s a sweet thing to be in the family of God. His Spirit makes us one and we are better and stronger together.
I guess that’s what I’m still thinking about and thanking God for since I got home. And, of course, those beignets are really hard to forget!
