“Perfectionism kills skill.” Those were the wise words of Ann Voskamp during Spill the Beans at Fresh Grounded Faith, Evansville this past weekend. What truth that woman spoke! She shared earlier that morning about how we as women can use measuring sticks as weapons that hurt ourselves and hurt each other. But, of course, because she is such a wordsmith, she said it a lot better than I just did!
Oh girl, the point is that I learned so much from her at Fresh Grounded Faith — Evansville. And, not only her — I learned so much from Meredith Andrews too. That girl may be a young woman, but the sister has an old soul full of God’s wisdom and grace. The lyrics from her song “Pieces” keep running through my mind like a cleansing river of truth and they fit so perfectly with Ann’s message —
“It’s a complex puzzle you call your life
It’s an uphill climb, it’s a constant fight
And it wears you down
Feeling like you’re alone, like you don’t belong
And you won’t be loved if you don’t measure up
And you wear your scars
Like they’re who you are
Give Him your wounds, your bruised and broken pieces
All your questions, all your secrets
You don’t have to hide who you are
You belong to someone greater
Than all your past mistakes and failures
Rest in who He is
He knows how to make your pieces fit”
Beautiful, right?
Well, beautiful is the best word to sum up FGF Evansville. The Local Conference Coordinators, Corrie, Holly, and Andree’ led the 160 volunteers with such grace and they were so fun to be with. First Christian Church was so gracious to host FGF and welcomed with open arms the 9 co-host churches who partnered together to bring this Kingdom-minded event to Evansville.
Because of the generous women in attendance, 38 children’s lives were saved from poverty through Compassion International! And, 5 women received Christ… hallelujah! Thank You, Lord, for drawing women to Yourself. Amen!

Now, let the holidays begin and we will pick back up with Fresh Grounded Faith in January! Check the FGF calendar to see if we are coming to a city near you. Oh, I hope so because I would love to meet you and share a cup of inspiration with you.
If you were at FGF Evansville, or a Fresh Grounded Faith anywhere this fall, give me a shout out in the comments and tell me what God did in your life — a favorite quote or take-away — or just say hi!
