“Mom, do I have to get up?”
“Yes, Jennifer, you have to get up. You are the Mom!”

“Yes, Jennifer, you have to get up. You are the Mom!”
A few years ago, I went downstairs to our guest room to spruce it up for our out-of-town company who’d be arriving later that day.
Now, if you’re new to the 4:13 Podcast, this is a good time to tell you that I’m blind. I lost the majority of my sight as a teenager because of a degenerative disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa.
Near the end of junior high, I realized my eyesight was deteriorating.
As I picked my way through the packed hallways of Glades Junior High, I was amazed at how my classmates streamed through the crowd with such ease—even in dark stairwells. How could they do that without bumping into schoolmates or lockers?
If you’ve ever attended one of my Fresh Grounded Faith women’s events, you know that my guests and I always “Spill the Beans” during one of the sessions. We take the stage with a stack of your questions and answer them unplanned.
Well, sister, today I am spilling the beans with my stud husband, Phil, on the podcast—and, let me just say, these are some sizzling beans!
A few years ago, I was a speaker on the Women of Faith tour.
Each event was held in an arena and the stage was always in the round. When it was the other speakers’ turn to share, they would skillfully navigate the stage, walking around the entire perimeter so they could engage the audience.
But, when you can’t see—like me—that’s dangerous, right? (If you’re new to the 4:13 Podcast, I should let you know I’m blind.)
I didn’t want to just hover in the middle of the stage, though. I wanted to engage the audience in a similar way. So, my husband, Phil, and the crew got creative.
What do you get when you have two friends, a pile of random questions, and no prep? This episode of the 4:13 Podcast!
