What Happens When God Doesn’t Heal?

Spill The Beans
Dear Jennifer,

I was so inspired when I first saw your video on Walking by Faith: Lessons I Learned in the Dark.  I’ve had a bad case of tinnitus for almost 1 1/2 years with severe hearing loss in one ear and several sounds that constantly are hard to put out of my mind.

I am a born again Christian but have been struggling with this since I can’t seem to get my mind off of it.  With the hearing loss, it makes it even harder because the noise seems to be louder.  I am doing some biofeedback and taking anti-depressants which do not help a whole lot.  This problem has really been severe for me and my husband, who is also a Christian.  He gets so tired of hearing me talk about it.  It really gets me down.  Since it doesn’t appear God is going to heal me, do you have any ideas on this type of affliction?

What Do You Do When Depression Tries to Take Over?

Spill The Beans

Dear Jennifer,

I have written to you before, but that was about two years ago.  At that time in June, I lost my eyesight in my right eye do to a blood clot going to the retina and exploding it.  They called it a main retina occlusion.  The doctors say there is nothing they can do to reconstruct it, and now my left eye is getting blurry.

I was in bed for a year and a half due to depression.  I then put the armor on more.  I listened to healing tapes and prayed with my prayer partner and best friend.  Two months ago I was getting the point…then I seemed to get knocked down again with the flu, which in turn pushed me back in bed and back into depression.  How do you do it?  You’re blind every day and yet you keep working and giving a smile with your songs and testimonies.

Love, Pam

How Do I Find God?

Spill The Beans

Dear Jennifer,

In the past six months I have had more medical problems besides retinits pigmentosa, and the most important man in my life, my father, passed away.   Then my childhood girlfriend (since three years old) was murdered by her husband, and two more deaths in  the family.  Now my cousin that I am close too has M.S.   Fear has set inside me…and I haven’t felt so separated from the Lord.  Where can I find Him???

How Do You Respond to Hurtful Comments?

Spill The Beans

Dear Jennifer,

I am legally blind with retinitis pigmentosa.  I have spent lots of time leaning how to do things like crochet, run my home, take part in church activities, etc.  It has been a challenge, as you well know, but God has helped me all the way.  Many times I am told, “You can’t be too blind or you couldn’t do that” from sighted people, and I have to admit it hurts some.  With all of your accomplishments, do you get that response and does it bother you, or am I just being too sensitive or proud?  How do you respond to it?

Authenticity at ICRS in Denver

I just got back from the ICRS-International Christian Retailers Convention held in Denver. This is a trade show where Christian book retailers come to order books from publishers, and meet authors. About 10,000 attend this event. It was a fabulous time for many reasons.

First, Phil and I went alone and our schedule wasn’t as packed as usual so it was almost romantic! At least for us, it’s as close as we ever get to a romantic get away! Secondly, the weather was cool and dry-my hormones were in heaven! Hmm, maybe that’s why it was such a romantic excursion. Second, I met hundreds of wonderful people during my book signing for my new release, Lessons I Learned in the Light
