I lost my sight as a teenager in 1980. And, that was just before computers began to be everywhere and for everyone. But as I went off to college, even though there were computers available at my university, this blind young woman couldn’t access them. I couldn’t type yet and they couldn’t talk yet so computers just weren’t an option.
Give Courage Not Just Compliments
What do you need more… courage or compliments?
Think about it. Which one boosts you and buoys you? Which one gives you what you need to take the next step or do the next right thing?
For me, it’s courage that I need. Compliments are nice, really nice, but courage does something in me that is bigger and stronger.
How to Be Present Where You Are
Picture this: I’m visiting a friend whom I haven’t seen in years.
We’ve been able to stay in touch on the phone and by email. I’m traveling through her hometown and we meet for lunch. We hug, squeal, exchange “oh you look so good” comments, and then order our lunch. As we eat, we catch up on our kids and lives.
After the first frenzy of conversation, she’s less chatty. She doesn’t answer my questions very quickly. She seems so distracted. Our conversation loses its rhythm.
Then she says something about someone she’s following on Twitter, and I think, “Where in the world did that come from? I don’t even know who she’s talking about.”
Three Boundaries That Will Set You Free
Oh girl, I need boundaries!
Just like a child is more secure when she has boundaries, I am learning that I am more free to be me when I have boundaries too.
As I’m learning how to identify with my identity and find myself in God’s view of me, I am learning that boundaries help me.
Boundaries help me stay close to God and my true identity.
Cooking with the Blind and the Blonde: Recipe for No-Bake Energy Bites
So, Sunday night I decided to be spontaneous with my friend Angela and turn on Periscope while we made No-Bake Energy Bites.
The result was laughter and lots of Periscopers joining us in my kitchen.
