Two Divas, One Float, and Lazy Days on Table Rock Lake

Phil and I love to go over to Table Rock Lake. It’s only about 45 minutes from our home but it feels a million miles away. I love to just hang out on the water, float and do … absolutely nothing.

I’ve learned something really interesting while floating lazily on the lake. I thought all dogs knew how to swim. I really thought it was just genetically wired in them to automatically do the dog paddle.

Apparently not!

Or, at least not when it comes to our little Shih-tzu, Lucy. We put her in the water with Phil and she totally panicked! She flailed and whined and practically pawed Phil down into the inner depths of the lake. Let’s just say, she’s not wired for water. So, she stays on top of the water with me. The girl likes to float! She will sit in a float with me for hours, totally content. So, that is what we do while at the lake. We’re two peas in a pod, Luce and I.

And, may we never fall out because, obviously, neither of us divas can dog paddle!

Boy Meets Girl, the Break Up, Boy Marries Girl: Happy Couple 27 Years Later [Video]

Today, my Dr. Phil and I celebrate 27 years of marriage. It hasn’t always been easy, but it sure has been worth it. We could not be happier, and Phil still reminds me of Tom Selleck (see video).

Would you like to hear about our love story?

In April, Phil and I spoke at the Founder’s Day Chapel at our beloved Alma Mater, Palm Beach Atlantic University. Phil graduated in ’85, I graduated in ’86, and we married on August 9, 1986.

In our talk, we could not help but reflect on our days at PBA. We’d tried our best to relate to the students, and honor some of the wonderful people that had such an impact on our lives. Phil put some “old-school” photos together to go along with our talk.

I Want To Eat My Face [Video]

After 3 weeks abroad in all sorts of climates, my face felt like a dry, saggy piece of leather!  Okay, okay, maybe not that bad, but trust me … gravity and sun did a number on my face. So, I decided to make my own facial mask and see if I could lift, tone and moisturize it back into shape!

Good Clean Fun

We are at a hotel in New Orleans right now. It is so good to be back in the USA where we can flush the toilet paper and drink the water! But, I must say, I love Ecuador. My heart is forever changed after being there.

I am so grateful we have some new members of our family through Compassion, International; Martin and his 2 sisters. He is the little boy who lives with his 12 year old sister and his 6 year old sister in Quito. His 12 year old sister has become his mother, since their mother died three years ago. Their father left the family shortly after the mother died, and if not for the resourcefulness of a 12 year old, a loving church, and Compassion, I don’t know where those precious children would be. But now, Martin is ours and we will sponsor their whole little family and keep them in our hearts.

Anyway, tomorrow we are leaving on our family vacation. We will all board a Carnival Cruise leaving from New Orleans, and be gone for 7 days [or more :)]. This will probably be one of the last whole family vacations for a while since Clay and Caroline are entering the grown-up world of full-time jobs in August, and Connor is entering high school and will become increasingly busy and more interested in his friends!

Lucy probably has forgotten us as she has been at Doggie Dream World, AKA, Beverly Cox’s home! She loves being there. Man, are we grateful for Miss Beverly!

Well, we spent an hour at the Laundromat here in New Orleans washing our clothes from Ecuador so we could take them on the cruise. You should have seen me and Phil trekking across a six lane highway, pulling a roll-on full of laundry, just to get to the Laundromat across from hotel. I haven’t used a Laundromat in years, and I must say, I loved it!! It was quick because Phil helped, and we just hung out and ate Black Beans and Rice and Plantains at Pollo Campero! Small pleasures!

Off to Walmart to buy sunscreen and then we will board the ship in the morning. So, bless you, all you wonderful friends. I wish I could put each of you in my suitcase and sail the ocean with you! Hope to post some pics at the ports.

Update from the Laundromat

We are =
at a hotel in New Orleans right now.  It is so good to be back in =
