The Most Important Lesson Regret Has Taught Me

I was a senior in college as I sat in the conference room with five psychology professors.

I was there to receive a special thank you for providing music at a conference the department had just hosted.

I was handed a half-dozen roses and the different professors thanked me, told me how much my piano playing had added to the event, and complimented my abilities as a psychology student.

I remember as I held the roses and the professors spoke, I wanted to shrink into my seat. I felt so self-conscious!

How to Fight the Expectation Temptation

Anyone out there ever feel like you just can’t meet everyone’s expectations? Anyone? Oh girl, I do.

We can get pretty stressed out when we feel like we fail to meet other’s expectations for us…

We can’t volunteer for that fund raiser. We don’t call or write that loved one as often as we should. We can’t keep the house clean enough, or the fridge full enough, or the calender empty enough! The list goes on and on.

Expectations come in many forms, but one thing they have in common is how we feel when we don’t meet them… downright lousy!

What You Never Knew About Female Employees

What would you say if I told you the following statements were facts?

  • Young, married women are more responsible than single gals.
  • Older women tend to be fussy if they have never worked outside the home.
  • Husky girls are more even-tempered than skinny ones.
  • And, a girl has more confidence, and is more efficient, if she can keep her hair tidied and apply fresh lipstick during her work day.

Would you say I’ve lost my mind? Would you say I’ve lost my manners?! Would you think I’m out of touch, or politically incorrect ?

Why I Put My Mask On First

Over my years of Air travel, I’ve accumulated well over 100,000 miles!

Although those miles have taken me to lots of different places, there is one thing all those airlines and all those flight attendants have in common… those safety briefings!!

Some flight attendants announce the safety instructions with perfect diction and drama. Some mumble their way through the 5 minute predictable discourse. And, some drone on so long that it makes me wish for a power outage and those little red lights to illuminate the floor leading to an emergency exit so I could get out of there!!

I know the job of informing passengers is important, I just think it’s humorous how many different presentation styles there are!

But, no matter the style or script, the flight attendant always instructs you to “put on your mask first before assisting the passenger next to you.”

What God Can Do with the Small and Unlikely

As I walked off stage this past weekend, a woman grabbed my arm and said, “You are so much shorter in person than on video!”

I laughed because I’ve heard that before. I am only 5’2″ but with some hair poof and heels, I am a towering 5’5″! But, I’m still short and little no matter what.

“How tall are you anyway,” she asked.

“On the inside or the outside?” I answered. “I am really tall on the inside, I’m just small on the outside.”

The Secret to Finding Encouragment

I’ve been on the phone, and on my knees, a lot lately because I have some friends that are really struggling. Health issues, relationship hurts, financial worries, and just plain stress seem to be epidemics in my little part of the world.

Can you relate? Oh, I bet you can.

I want to help lift them up out of their despair, fear, or disappointment. But, in and of myself, I can’t. That is God’s deal and I know He will.

All I can do is pray and encourage them.

While I was trying to encourage them, it dawned on me… no matter who I am talking to, and no matter what their problem may be, my encouragement seems the same.

Wanna know what it is?

It’s way simple because life is too complicated for encouragement to require an instruction manual!
