Are You a Piglet?

Christopher Robin had the 100 Acre Wood populated by his imaginary friends in the popular tales of Winnie the Pooh. Many women, myself included, have our very own 100 Issue Woods! We’ve got some pretty interesting characters living there too.

3-Piglet

Last time we visited the 100 Issue Woods, we observed Winnie. Shaky self-esteem, self-control issues when it came to food … just some of the Winnie issues we deal with too, right? If you didn’t read it, you check it out here: Are You a Winnie the Pooh?

Today’s character is … Piglet!

He’s Pooh’s best buddy. Piglet has a squeaky voice. He isn’t very tall, which makes it difficult for others to take him seriously. He may snack a little more than he should because it seems he loves Acorns or, shall I say, Haycorns.

Piglet has an artistic flair too. He loves beautiful things like flowers. Even so, he still suffers from an inferiority complex, although his friends think highly of him. This feeling is reinforced when he is often left performing tasks better suited for someone bigger and stronger. Despite his short stature, he has done big things, like help build a house for his friend Eeyore.

What an inferiority complex. And, if that’s not enough, there’s more!

If he weren’t a pig, he would be a fraidy cat. Poor Piglet is nervous and fearful about many things, which tends to set off his stutter. Not only that, but his ears subtly twitch when he gets scared. “Oh, D-D-Dear!”

Oh girl, I have a little Piglet in me … do you?!

When it comes to an inferiority complex or short-woman’s-syndrome, at 5’2, I got it! You add to my lack of height the fact that I am blind and oh d-d-d-dear!

I think the biggest Piglet issue we all face is fear. Our ears twitch and we can get overly concerned or nervous.

We have no reason to feel inferior and we have nothing to fear for He is in us and with us. [Click to Tweet]

Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of the future … we too can shutter and stutter over all the unknowns.

But, can I say this to you D-D-D-Dear? You and I have nothing to fear. We need Piglet to shrink down to size and only squeak when we are in true danger. Scripture tells us that perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4: 18). In other words, God’s love is perfect and God Himself is perfect love.

Consequently, we have no reason to feel inferior and we have nothing to fear for He is in us and with us.

The next time Piglet starts stuttering in your mind, you just remind him that God didn’t give you a spirit of f-f-f-fear (2 Timothy 1: 7). His perfect love casts out all fear.

Got a little Piglet in you? How do you keep your Piglet in line?
